The beginning of
the Paul Bunyan Trail is Segment 1. From mile markers 0.0 to 14.3 covering areas from
Brainerd, Baxter, Merrifield, to just north of Nisswa.

 Lake Hubert is located south of Nisswa with a rest area,
information board, and picnic tables. The trail borders the northeast side of Lake Hubert.
Access from the trail to the historic depot is provided with a pull-off area and bike
racks.
